Universe is a container.

1. Universe contains everything, it contains all space, time, energy, matter including all the stars, planets, galaxies, superclusters etc. Ancient science has all the detailed description of the development of the universe.

That in which everything exists is called the universe. The universe is also known as Cosmos. All existing matter and space considered as a whole; the cosmos. There are many definitions of the universe. It is not possible to understand the whole universe by any one single definition.

2. Definition.

Universe simply means, that which contains every thing. The universe is the vast empty space that holds everything from the tiny particle to galaxy.

Philosophical definition: Universe means that which has motion or harmony. In other words that which has one verse, rhythm or harmony.

According to the modern physics, the universe is all of space and time and their contents, including planets, sun, moon, stars, galaxies, and all other forms of matter and energy. But what exactly is the universe? It is still being understood. Why there is a universe, what is the purpose of the universe, it has not been fully understood so far.

3. Size of the Universe.

The size of the physical universe is infinite, all the dimensions of the universe are infinite. It is not possible to ascertain its actual size. But if we talk about the observable universe, then modern science tells us that ‘size of the observable universe is approximately 93 billion.‘

4. The 3 types of universe.

There are basically three type of universe or cosmos; gross cosmos, subtle cosmos, causal cosmos.

5. Theory of the universe.

There are many theories of the universe, out of which the most famous theory is the Big Bang Theory. The details of ‘how the universe developed’ is given in the Big Bang theory. The Big Bang theory tells us that the universe is space.

6. Is the universe just space? 

Modern science has not been able to tell clearly the definition of the universe, but it tells that the universe is all of space and time and their contents, such as the sun, moon, earth, stars etc. planets, galaxies, and all other forms of matter and energy.
